Guava is a name shared by several plants: the Guava on Leafly and AllBud is a sativa-leaning Gelato phenotype from the Cookies Fam, Top Dawg Seeds’ earlier Guava came out of its 2011 Stardawg release, and Flavour Chasers sells Guava seeds bred from Stardawg × Afghani.1,2,3,4,5,6 None of them is Strawberry Guava, Guava Cake, Pink Guava or Guava Gelato.7,8,9,10 In only 92 state lab tests of Guava flower, a small sample, the median total THC was 23.52%, with the middle half of results between 21.32% and 25.73%; results labelled Guava IX, a separate Stardawg × Guava cross, are left out.11,12 CBD is negligible: none of the 28 tests that reported CBD reached 1%.11

It depends on who is selling it. Leafly, AllBud and SeedFinder describe Guava as a sativa-leaning Gelato phenotype from the Cookies Fam; Top Dawg Seeds says an earlier Guava came out of its first Star Dawg release in 2011; and Flavour Chasers sells Guava seeds bred from Stardawg × Afghani, the lineage Weedmaps lists.1,2,3,5,6,13

Guava Cake is a Wedding Cake line: Weedmaps credits Seed Junky Genetics with a backcross of Wedding Cake’s Gold Leaf phenotype, and Leafly calls it a cross of Wedding Cake. Close, but Leafly keeps them apart. Both are described as Gelato phenotypes, Guava from the Cookies Fam and Guava Gelato from Sherbinski, and Weedmaps puts Guava Gelato in the same general genetic lane as the Cookies Guava.1,6,10
A Stardawg-bred strain from the older side of the name. Top Dawg Seeds says a Guava phenotype came out of its first release of Star Dawg (Chem 4 × Tres Dawg) in 2011. Leafly lists Stardawg Guava as a sativa that won Best Sativa at the 2012 Denver Cannabis Cup, and Weedmaps says flower sold under the name generally descends from Stardawg, though sources give slightly different parents.3,17,18,19

Guava is missing from the big sales lists: neither Leafly’s best-selling strains of 2025 nor The Marijuana Herald’s September 2026 list of each adult-use state’s top seller includes a Guava strain.20,21 Its footprint shows in ratings and awards instead. Leafly’s Guava page has 4.3 stars from 121 ratings and AllBud 4.4 from 24 votes, and Leafly says Stardawg Guava won first place for Best Sativa at the 2012 Denver Cannabis Cup.1,2,18
The name travels further than any one plant. SeedFinder lists four breeders’ Guavas, and in state lab records our strict matching excluded 2,379 results with longer Guava names, led by “Guava IX” (472), “Guava Lava” (96) and “Guava Jelly” (73).11,22 On Weedmaps, flower sold under Guava names was listed by 409 stores in 22 of 27 markets on Oct 4, 2026.23
