Guava vs Chemdawg

The older Guava is Chemdog family: Top Dawg Seeds says it came out of the first release of Star Dawg in 2011, and Stardawg is Chem 4 × Tres Dawg.1,2 Guava IX, a Stardawg × Guava cross, is the most common near-miss name our lab matching keeps out of Guava’s count.3,4 Guava tests about the same in state labs: 23.52% median THC from only 92 tests, a small sample, against 22.94% for Chemdawg.4

From Chem 4 to Guava

Top Dawg Seeds told High Times that Tres Dawg is Afghan × Chem D and Star Dawg is Chem 4 × Tres Dawg, “two different Chems crossed to Chem 4”, and named Guava among the four popular versions of Star Dawg.1 Leafly’s Stardawg Guava page lists Chemdawg #4 as its parent, and Leafly’s list of the 100 best strains includes Stardawg among those for feeling uplifted.9,10 Chemdawg has its own guide in the Official Cannabis network at chemdawg.com.

Which is easier to find

In Weedmaps snapshots from Oct 4, 2026 (Guava) and Oct 3, 2026 (Chemdawg), 78 stores within 50 miles of Los Angeles listed Guava flower on Weedmaps, against 79 stores for Chemdawg; around New York the counts were 35 and 39.11 Most items in Guava’s count carry longer names, such as Guava Casquitos or Passion Orange Guava (see where to find it).11
